Lymed awarded with German Design Award Special Mention!

“Cake for everybody!” exclaims CEO Toikka as Lymed wins its newest quality design award. Lymed Sport products were awarded with the very hard-to-get German Design Award Special Mention for the year 2016. The happy event occurred right after the latest Red Dot Design Award 2014 and Quality Innovation of the Year 2013 prizes, just to name a few. The award is given to works whose design features particularly successful sub aspects or solutions – an award that honors the commitment of companies and designers. “This is absolutely marvelous!” says Lymed’s CEO, Mrs Teija Toikka with glee, “We are very happy to be constantly recognized by our high level of design and quality”.

The German Design Award sets the highest standards when it comes to selecting the prize-winners: in the nomination process, panels of experts from the German Design Council invite only those products to participate in the competition that demonstrably set themselves apart from their competitors thanks to their design quality. The German Design Award is conferred by the German Design Council, Germany’s leading brand and design authority. Its mission is to present the latest developments on the German design scene.

All awards are determined during a two-day jury session. Since its premiere in 2012, the German Design Award has grown rapidly: in 2012 approximately 1,500 entries were presented to the jury. This year there were 3,400 entries, 57 % of them in the area Excellent Product Design and 43 % in the area Excellent Communications Design. From all of the participants 33 % of the entries came outside of Germany! The awards will be handed out next February in Frankfurt at the Ambience 2016 Gala Event.
